Water Magic change.
Just a small request. Change Water magic to Ice magic. It makes more sense with all the terminology used. Ice damage, frozen burst, etc etc. Plus it sounds A bit cooler.
All you would have to is change all the text in box sets, manuals, EVERY where it says watermagic in the game....BUT it would be cooler lol.
At least if there is a water type thing in GW2 and it still says ice damage and has a lot of ice terms, then change it then.
*Prepares for Flamage*

Not trying to flame, but....does it really matter?
I mean, everything does cold damage, not water or ice. Besides, ice IS water, then you have stuff like [Water Trident] and such.

Ah yea true. And no ,it really doesn't matter, but I just think it refers to ice more then just water a bit more. Maybe I'm just being picky.
Also I jsut think Ice mage sounds cooler then a hydromancer.

Right, because the only monster in PvE I've ever seen use that skill are Ice Golems.
I see where you're coming from though. It's really a worthless change, but it makes sense to me, considering how most of the attribute line functions.

TY, thats kind of what this thread is about. I know it's not important enough to change 3 years into the game but, I think it would be nice to think about these sorts of things before they make a new game or anything. Just kinda wonder what you guys think about this.
It's the little things in life that makes a difference =D

While we are at it, air magic needs to be renamed "lightning magic", healing prayers needs to be renamed "not for W/MOs", and all paragon skills need to be rolled up into one line called "Pwning".

LOL
Least I'm not getting the flame I expected lol.
Yea...I miss the days where a wammo was actually an ok thing to be. now every W/mo is considered one even if they just HAPPEN to be part monk and the only Monk skill they have is rebirth for PvE...which is ok...isn't it?

Well, I've always thought of each magic in this way, cuz I'm weird. :3
Water magic condenses the moisture in the air and directing it, be it to freeze, or what have you.
Fire magic focuses flammable gases into a smaller point and ignites them.
Earth magic manipulates the ground. Nothing too special there.
Air Magic manipulates ions in the atmosphere to create electrical discharge and go Bzzzzrt.

The trees are named the way they are because that's the four greek elements, like it or not.
What do you do with [skill]Steam[/skill] and [skill]Gale[/skill] then anyway?

Thats the reason, why I hope, GW2 will receive the 11 Element System
Core Elements:
Fire - Water - Earth - Air
Side Elements:
Ice - Thunder - Light - Shadow - Wood
"Mental" Elements
Chaos - Holy
Elemental Antagonists:
With only 4 this would look only like this:
Fire > Earth > Air > Water > Fire
But with the 11 Elements, the Core Element Cicle will look so:
Fire > Air > Ice > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire
Fire eats Air, Air bursts Ice, Ice crumbles Earth, Earth absorbs Thunder, Thunder shocks Water, Water deletes Fire
Light >< Shadow, the eternal antagonists, like Holy><Chaos, which are no real Elements, but get seen as some, due to their similarity to Light and Shadow as being eternal antagonists and using very often the elements Light and Shadow to deliver their actions and give them a kind of visuality.
You could call them also "Mental Elements", because Holy and Chaos exist only into our Minds and our personality tells us and lets us decide, what is holy and what is chaos or with other words "evil"
Wood is a Side Element, because it requires 2 Core Elements to exist, Earth and Water and belongs to the circle of nature normally wise.
With such an 11 Element System, the Elementalists could then deal with their Spells ever the correct damage.
Because Air is not = Thunder (lightning) and Water is not = Ice, because those thigns have all four very differently moleculars and thats the thign, that makes the difference between Elements.
The fact, that ice "was once" waters makes ice not = water, I emphasize on "was once", because it made a temperaly molecular transformation and when somethign changes its molecules, its not anymore the same element, as before, that are simple rules of chemics
Spells like
[Gale] would deal then Air Damage, not Thunder (Lightning) damage
[Steam] would deal Water Damage and not Ice Damage, because the molecular form of Steam is nearer to Water than to Ice, changing its molecule would result in Steam becomign first Water again, Steam can't change its molecules directly into Ice, so its obvious, that Steam is damp and will deal this wise Water Damage
[Water Trident] then also would deal, like its name makes it obvious, Water Damage, and not Ice (Cold) Damage.
That was ever since Prophecies one thign, that ever annoyed me about the games Skills and the games dumb element system, that so much skills descriptions had wrong damage types, due to the limitation of the greek 4 core elements and then having so much skills in those attributes, that theoretically belong into the other side elements.
its just complete weird, when you see a Skill like Whirlwind, were you would expect to read there, that it deal AIR DAMAGE and then stands there, it deals Cold Damage oO
so WTF oO a Whirlwind dealing cold damage, only because you Anet were too dumb, to give the game a correct Element System? OMG, was I, when I first saw that Skill. Even then "Lightning Damage" would have made more sense, even if this again would have been by far not correct.
When I see a Skill beign named Whirlwind, then I expect from it, that it deals AIR DAMAGE, and nothing else.
When I see such retarded crap, I must ask me, what do we see next ?
Water Skills, that deal Earth Damage ?, Fire Skills, that deal Chaos Damage ?
Please, for the sake of GW2, don't redo this retarded mistake and give the game an 11 Element System, improving with it directly too the Elementalists, giving them 1 attribute, for each of the 8 Elements they should be able to control
Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Thunder, Ice, Light and Shadow.
Who cares about it, when Elementalists have then of all Professions in GW2 the biggest amount of attributes.
With Elements for Elementalists is it, as like for Warriors with weapons. Only having more attributes, than other professions, doesn't mean, that the profession will be due to that much stronger, than any other profession, nor that you can use all of your attributes at the same time, unless you would be able in GW2 hopefully to max all your attributes. The limitation of the Skill Bar on max 8 Skills is balancing enough and only the primary attributes have inherent effects, so why should we not be bale in GW2 to max all our attributes, once we reach enough AP for them by leveling, making special quests and missions ect.
Or are Elementalists/Warriors having 5 Attributes much stronger, than all the other Professions, that have only 4 Attributes ?? NO THEY AREN'T

Then again we could make it even more accurate and call it H2OMagic (dammit no subscript) and everyone'd be happy.
Wait...
